Adult swim... NEVER!

Check out our new "Rainforest" pool. Thanks to a well displayed electric pump at the store, we were ready for swimming in no time. Thankfully, the rain held off until after our first swim.

Noah didn't get to soak his toes today, but he did have fun watching Amelia go in and out, in and out, in and out, in and out... you get the picture.

I foresee lots of pool-time over the coming weeks. Come join us any time!

Break a leg!

While we won't be submitting Amelia's application to Julliard just yet,
her passion for dance has come alive!

Today was her first "performance" - a recital of Cinderella... five Cinderellas to be exact. (No one wanted to be a step-sister!) Can't say there was a great deal of dancing, but there were many chasses, arabesque attempts, runs across the stage, and smiles - lots of thrilled smiles.

It was helpful to know the story of Cinderella to follow the dance. And, boy, do the Brinsons know the story of Cinderella... at least the Disney version. I think my favorite part was when the mice turned into horses to pull the carriage to the ball. Each dancer got a chance to play the lead role, so we got to watch five renditions of "going to the ball." Amelia barely made it into her carriage (see video below).

At one point - during the dance, Amelia took a break to come over and tell us that she was now a "mice." Sweet giggles could be heard throughout the audience. (When I say "audience" think six other proud parents.)

Lucky for us, Amelia is signed up for another week of ballet camp in July - Twelve Dancing Princesses. Can't wait for that recital!

Prima Ballerina

A prima ballerina is born! Amelia went to her first day of ballet camp this morning. It ended much better than it started.

900am - On the way to the dance studio, Amelia said "Mom, I don't want to go to ballet camp. I want to stay home and play with my toys." I asked her to give it a try and we continued on.

Jump to noon... I arrive to pick up Amelia and upon seeing me she shouts "GO AWAY! I want to stay. I don't want to go home!" Clearly, she was having a good time. Who wouldn't prancing around in pink leotards, princess costumes, hula-hoops, and ribbons?!

Stay tuned for an unbiased* review of her first dance performance this Friday. "Cinderella" is the ballet and as of today, Amelia says her role is one of the "evil stepsisters." I hope it's not close-casting!

(*Who am I kidding - "unbiased" - the girl could be the most uncoordinated, totally lacking in grace and dance ability, and I'd still think she was the best in the class! Such is love.)

Happy Father's Day!

A sneak peek at how our Father's Day started off... breakfast in bed with dad. Amelia made (with a little help from mom) M&M Belgian waffles for her daddy. She's a great chef! Noah wished he could have a little taste.

Hope all the Dads in our lives have a wonderful day. Love to you all!

Too Heavy!

Amelia started her first of four summer camps this week - "Let's Go Camping!" at Binkley Preschool. She's signed up for two camps at Binkley and two at Triangle Youth Ballet. Swim lessons might even get squeezed in somewhere before our annual August California trip. Yikes, she's busy!

This week's camp forgot to
tell me a few key things... like Amelia should bring undies to put on after swimming (she wears her swimsuit to camp - who knew she'd change out of it). What kind of mother forgets undies?!

I also missed that the kids
should have a bag they can carry for their two towels, lunch, and said undies.

Oh, she had a bag - a very
cute light-blue LL Bean bag that we got when she was born. It has the mini-license plate with her name on it that Grandpa and Uncle Jon got her in Vail. The big problem... she can't carry it.

"Too heavy!" I learned that in the Tuesday afternoon pick-up line. I can't tell you how many different camp people told me that Amelia needs a new bag... "one that she can carry, please."

Well, I got the hint! We immediately rushed out to get a new camp backpack. Doesn't Amelia already have a backpack, you ask? Yes! She has many... her travel Nemo, a purple Nike, one with an elephant on it from GG, and a ballerina backpack from Grandma. Unfortunately, none of these could fit the two towels, lunch, and undies she's to bring with her each day.

Here comes our turtle!

The new pack is so big, Amelia could fit
in it. It's wider than she is and almost as tall. How she carries it is a mystery. We're pretty sure it won't properly fit her until High School! None-the-less, all of the counselors were very excited when they saw Amelia this morning with her new heart backpack. Crisis averted!

Next week's camp... "Cinderella" at Triangle Youth Ballet. I'll be sure to ask what she needs prior to Monday's start. I'm pretty sure undies will be a must!

A little Noe in the morning

Since Lee's away in LA for business, thought he could use a little Noe in the morning... Amelia too!
