T-Rex Robots

Today was a big day. Amelia went to her first soccer practice. Hopefully, it's the start of a long love affair with the sport. Nothing would make her mom happier.

We signed Amelia up for the YMCA's spring soccer program. Chosen solely because they only play Saturday games, no practices. The other league in town has Saturday games and two weekday practices. I don't know about Amelia, but I'm not ready for that kind of commitment.

Practice was a success! From the second we parked the car and Amelia saw all the kids with their parents heading to the fields, the excitement started bubbling. "Mom, Mom! This is so much fun!" We hadn't left the parking lot.

They introduced themselves, stretched, ran, hopped, dribbled, passed the ball, shot on goal... and had lots and lots of fun. Amelia has classmates on her team - Jon G and her good friend Josie. Jon and Josie's dads are the coaches and Lee, being the great dad he is, has also volunteered his services.

At the end of practice, it came time to name their team. Amelia promptly suggested "The Unicorns." "Armadillos" was another suggestion; their shirts are grey. Next up, "T-Rex" and then "Robots." Unfortunately for Amelia, unicorns was not the team's choice. Evidently, there was a tie between two names... team #19 will now be know as the "T-Rex Robots."

We're off next week for Easter, then she'll have another practice. Our first game will be April 25. Can't wait!
